Hai Bar & Grill – Restaurant Review by The Travellist

If you haven’t read the Bali Hai blogs before, I’ll introduce myself – I’m Clare from The Travellist and I’m a huge fan of Hai Bar & Grill.

The love affair started 3 years ago when I was visiting friends on Lembongan and went in search of good coffee. I found great coffee….and a whole lot more!

Hai Bar & Grill is the restaurant within Hai Tide Beach Resort and it boasts amazing views looking back to Bali. Whether morning coffee or sunset cocktail, you will certainly be accused of neglecting whoever your guests are…and focusing more on your camera as you capture the stunning views and beach around you.

I feel like somewhat of an expert on the menu, I’m not of course, but there isn’t much I haven’t tried. Here are my picks: breakfast burrito – essentially the best bits of a big breakfast all wrapped up in a burrito covered in a delicious tomato salsa sauce.; soto ayam – a Balinese favourite, great for  lunch or dinner and add steamed rice for a big meal; nasi goreng – I can’t give this away but it’s unlike any other nasi goreng you will get anywhere; Thai Beef Salad – fresh, light, healthy and delicious; Hawaiian Pizza – but I add chopped chillies and although it’s a huge pizza, I dare you NOT to eat the whole thing (impossible!); lemon posset – it’s so naughty and so good all at the same time.

But don’t take my word for it! If you are heading to Nusa Lembongan, make sure you book a table. If going for dinner, my recommendation is to go for sunset cocktails then dinner. And if you suspect sunset cocktails may turn into a bottle of wine, they have a great wine selection and pick up and drop off service as well!

Lunch is a more casual time with lots of people coming up off the beach for burgers and fish and chips and a cold beer. And during peak season this is the place to be, you’ll be waiting for table or a bean bag on the beach so make sure you book ahead.

Hai Bar & Grill also has Movies Under the Stars, see my earlier blog about my favourite things on Lembongan for more information, but it’s movies, under the stars and palm trees, on deck chairs AND you can order whatever you like from the menu and the gorgeous staff bring it out to you! Personally I think a pizza and a red wine or two goes hand in hand with Movies Under the Stars.

If it’s your special day, engagement, wedding, birthday or family reunion, please contact the manager Josh to make any arrangements you need – contact details are on this website and the Facebook page for Hai Bar & Grill. In fact, head to the Facebook and Instagram pages now, ‘like’ and follow their pages for great photos and you’ll see exactly why this restaurant has been an island favourite since the day it opened.

See you soon on Nusa Lembongan!
